Center for Translational Neurosciences (CTN)

The Center for Translational Neurosciences work encompasses basic and translational research aimed at investigating natural and newly synthesized pharmacotherapeutics and neuromodulators, understanding the molecular basis of their action, and their passage through the blood-brain barrier.

OUR GOALS

The CTN is dedicated to enhancing the excellence of the scientific team, improving the competencies and motivation of researchers, providing support for the smart specialization of young scientific personnel, and education oriented towards innovation, in line with The Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia "The Power of Knowledge" (2021-2025) and the Strategy of Smart Specialization in the Republic of Serbia (2020-2027).

PROFESSIONAL ASPECT

The professional aspect of CTN’s work relates to the examination and assessment of the potential of new therapeutics and neuromodulators, as well as to the evaluation of natural and newly synthesized pharmacotherapeutics permeability across the blood-brain barrier.

EDUCATIONAL ASPECT

The educational aspect of CTN's work supports the development of master's theses and doctoral dissertations for students of the Faculty of Biology, related faculties at the University of Belgrade and foreign universities, as well. CTN is involved in the organization and execution of practical workshops for the application of specific neurobiological techniques and procedures.

Microdialysis

Sampling of intercellular fluid in the brain allows precise monitoring of biochemical changes in the brains of experimental animals in real-time.

Histo Lab

HistoLab provides services for the preparation and immunohistochemical staining of brain samples for research purposes. These processes enable the precise examination of brain structures and biomarkers through standardized methods of sectioning and staining samples.

Microscopy

Services include the use of microscopes and expert assistance from operators. These methods are crucial for visualizing biological processes at the cellular and tissue levels, enabling researchers to obtain reliable and precise results.
